Taynuilt is a well-serviced village on the shores of Loch Etive with direct access to the main Oban to Glasgow road and main line rail station. The coastal town of Oban, known as ‘the Gateway to the Isles’, is 12 miles away and from there you can take a ferry to many of the inner and outer Hebridean islands. Oban is the main hub in the area for eating out, shopping and entertainment.
There are many local amenities in Taynuilt including a well stocked shop, a Post Office, butcher, Robin’s Nest Tea Room, tennis court and golf course all just 5 minutes walk away.

Taynuilt makes a great base for exploring with excellent walks, superb fishing on Loch Etive and wonderful cycle routes. From here you can visit famous castles, stunning gardens or enjoy the nearby forest trails. Visits to Bonawe Iron Furnace, Cruachan Hollow Mountain power station, Oban Distillery and Glencoe are well worth it. From Taynuilt, Loch Etive Cruises run boat tours towards Glen Etive at the head of the Loch. Five minutes from Taynuilt is the Inverawe Smokery and Fisheries, a family run business producing traditionally smoked fish with a shop, exhibition, woodland walk and fishing ponds. We would also recommend a visit to the Tea Garden on the island of Kerrera just outside Oban, and the Puffer Bar on Easdale Island, 16 miles south of Oban. On your way back you could stop at the Oban Chocolate Co. and indulge yourself in their cafe!
